The One-on-One Entrepreneurial Mindset Class Featuring the

Ice House Entrepreneurship Program

From the fall of 2012 through Jim Correll's retirement as director of Fab Lab ICC at Independence Community College, Jim has facilitated nearly twelve, 12 to 16-week class sections of Entrepreneurial Mindset featuring the revolutionary Ice House Entrepreneurship program, with over 150 people experiencing a change in their thinking and some even experiencing a change in their lives. New to the term "Ice House?" Click here to see Jim's article explaining the origins of "Ice House" and why it was exactly to program he'd been looking for in supporting new business start-ups.

The primary objective of the class is to learn how to think like successful entrepreneurs. They view the world differently than many of us and when they see a problem, they learn how to find solutions. Sometimes, if many others have the same problems, their solutions become products and services in the marketplace. All of us can benefit from becoming better problem solvers, in our professional, personal and academic lives, whether we work for ourselves or are employed by others.

Yet, if you ask these entrepreneurs to explain how they think, most can not tell you, let alone write their process in a book or article. We've learned that by interviewing entrepreneurs and listening to their stories, we can begin to understand how they think. After a while, we start to think that way too.

In the One-on-One version of Entrepreneurial Mindset, you'll be asked to

  • spend an average of 1 to 1 1/2 hours viewing each of 8 video lessons over your custom 12 -1 6 week schedule. In addition, you'll be asked to spend an average of 30 minutes expressing, in an online form,  how each lesson's content has affected your thinking.
  • conduct an interview with an entrepreneur you know and write a 1 to 2 page summary of the interview, submitted by email.
  • create something called an Opportunity Canvas (like a one-page summary of a business idea.) to be submitted by scan and email.
  • at the end of the class, write a one - two page Personal Vision Summary, submitted digitally.
  • review digital feedback from Jim Correll on all your submissions.
  • participate in a  Zoom call after all assignments are completed provides opportunity for overall insights in your change of mindset after taking the class.
Cost of the program:
  • Limited version available to first five residents of Montgomery County Kansas, $99 up front with $40 rebate upon successful completion of the program in your custom-scheduled time.
  • Version available to all persons anywhere, $350 up front with $50 rebate upon successful completion of the program in your custom-scheduled time.
